Judging Criteria for City Finalists
Winners are selected based on the theme "North America's Cutest family."

Judging is based on cute families, and the love among the family members that can be felt in the images. The judges also look at the composition and posing (professional but not forced, and balanced within the frame), lighting, as well as eye contact with the viewer.

The judges will select the Grand Prize winning image from the 52 finalists, and will select 2nd and 3rd place finishers also.  The decision of the judges is final.

The 53 City Finalists will be selected based solely on votes received
.
The voting gallery will be open from January 4, 2010 12:01 am – April 8, 2010 at 11:59 am.  All times given are Mountain Time zone.

Votes can be purchased for $1 per vote with no limit to the number of votes that can be cast at one time.   Votes can be cast for multiple families and are not limited to voting for only 1 family.  The family in each city with the most votes when voting closes on April 8, 2010 11:59 pm, will move on to the final judging round.  All families moving into the finals MUST have votes cast for them.  Any city with no entry or families without votes will not be represented in the finals.  Only one family from each city will move on to the final round.  If two families are tied for the most votes, both will move on to the final judging round.
